Hey There! It's 8:26AM EST, 26°F, cloudy

Monday morning. It's recycling day. I've already taken the recycling and put it on the curb. And another week begins. Today's tasks include taking DW to PT and also to see her new cardiologist (her first one retired), and finishing off some project reading.

Yesterday went by OK after the drama with Son1. For reasons that escape me, he has a high degree of shame about some things in his life, and this shame cycle is very difficult to deal with, because he gets a little too emotional and tends to be passive-aggressive in lashing out. He didn't want to talk to us yesterday, so we let it alone. It's his life, and as long as he's safe and not in the poor house, we have to let him live it. Anyone who tells you that parenting is over once they leave the house is misguided. They leave the house, but they never leave your heart.

I brought the Christmas tree up from the basement. It's showing its age. I think next year it is time once more to re-evaluate holiday decorations, and we probably need to get a new tree. The first change was going from a real tree to an artificial one. I can't - really, I don't want - do the labor anymore. We used to cut a fresh one down every year. Then I bought a few from the rack, then an artificial one. I think next year it'll be another artificial one, and maybe even a tabletop one. I'll worry about it next year, although I might take a trip to Home Depot or something and see if I can get one this year on sale after the holidays.

Then we watched our team win its football game. DW gets into it! I've discovered she seems to have a text group that sends out memes while watching the game. Love it! I'm pretty indifferent, but I watch along with her.

Dinner was a homemade pizza. DW is very fussy about her pizza, to the point of always refusing to choose pizza whenever we talk about going out. So pizza is a treat in that regard. After dinner we watched the latest Knives Out movie Wake Up Dead Man, and that was fun. We've seen all three, and they are all enjoyable. I cleaned up the kitchen after the movie, and hit the hay a little after 11:15pm.

The days are now beginning to have that "ground hog day" feel to them, which is not a good sign. I haven't truly been out of the house in a week due to cold and snow. But also there's no place really to go. The park's walking path is ice-covered, so I have to use the treadmill to get moving, which is boring as hell. All the things on my to-do list relate to packing for the journey west. The reading project is also becoming a chore. I am trying to get our family newsletter together, but that is also a chore getting people to cooperate. Watching cricket feels just like I am passing time to no purpose. At times I feel like I need to bust out of this cycle, and then at times I feel like this is just fine. Odd going back and forth between those two.
