DW and I had a good anniversary day. We decided to do brunch at a local location, and were glad we did. Not so much because the brunch was fantastic, but because it was local, it was a little fancy, and it was during the day. There was a good selection of choice, and I leaned into breakfast. I was going to get a taste of lunch, but I felt full at the end of my breakfast and resisted second helpings. We toasted with a couple of mimosas, and within an hour of getting there, we were back home. A senior citizen's wet dream!
I spent the afternoon watching the Ashes and then napping. Australia won the first test by 8 wickets, with a magnificent century by Travis Head, an emergency opener. The test was over in two days, which is unusual. The commentators said that Travis had cost the organizers millions, as they had to return the money for tickets for the next three days, and the people who had tickets for those three days were on their way back home. Test matches are scheduled for five days, so a two-day completed test is rare.
Later in the afternoon we watched the regional football team win. DW is really into the team this year, and sometimes I get concerned as to how much she gets into the game. Football is the sport she knows best, and she enjoys following the regional team. I am indifferent, but of course I sit and keep her company.
We eached fixed ourselves a makeshift dinner, with DW having a salad and me having a poor man's pizza - sauce and mozzarella on a ciabatta roll. I had one meatball left from the weekend, so I split that between the two halves.
The evening was spent checking out weather videos and watching a one-hour comedy special by the late John Pinette. Funny man. In bed by 11 PM. So all in all, a great day.
Today starts a week of getting interviews scheduled for my podcast as well as the planning for the trip SW. I am thinking of taking a longer route that dives further south at the start to reduce the risk of bad weather. Lots of driving and travel in store in the next few months.
It's the first day of meteorological winter, and there's an advisory out for tomorrow. I hope December doesn't suck too much.
