Hey There!
It's 7:24 AM EDT, 69°F, Humidity 81%, Wind 7 mph S, mostly cloudy, AQI 52.
Yesterday was an absolutely smashing day! The weather was near to perfect: sunny skies, little wind, temperatures in the high 70sF; you could not ask for more. I went through my morning routine, and sat out on the back porch for a good portion of it. We have neighbors on the other side of our back fence who are loud and obnoxious and yell at their small children all the time, so sitting in the back porch is sometimes impossible. They built a small playground out there complete with trampoline, and I don't mind the sound of children playing. But I do mind the sound of stupid adults who dd nothing but carp at their kids, constantly telling them not to do something, and listening to the ensuing arguments. So some part of the morning is always best enjoyed in the house.
After morning routine I made breakfast. We picked up some groceries yesterday, and I sort of nagged DW into buying bacon. I made a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a bagel for myself, and it was very good.
I had taken the scooter to the poker game last Friday, and I had noticed it was a bit squirrelly, and that the speedometer was off. So I decided to check the tire pressure, and sure enough, it was pretty low. I filled the tires with air, and got to thinking about taking a ride.
When I went back inside, I hit up Google Maps to see if there were any interesting places to ride to. I don't really need a destination, but sometimes a defined place to travel to gives the journey some structure. I found an attractive destination, and set off.
The ride was wonderful. I was out for about 4.5 hours. The corn is now quite high, and sweet corn is for sale in many places. I take as many back roads as I can when riding, and the views were very nice in many places. Overall, just an awesome ride on the bike. It sure beat sitting home all day watching videos.
When I got back home I sat about for a bit and rested from the ride before getting up and getting ready to grill some sausages. Unfortunately, I think my propane tank is on its last legs, as the grill did not really get hot. So DW baked them in the toaster over - don't ask me why she didn't broil them. So I had a ear of corn, the sausages, and some onions and peppers to go with that. I topped it off with my favorite shandy. A sweet dinner after a nice ride.
After dinner I made my baseball moves for the week. I'll see if I got one player I bid high on. I wrote a post on the day's ride for my public blog and included a few pictures I took. Then I watched the condensed ball game from earlier in the afternoon, which we lost 3-2 in 10 innings. This series has been something of a nail biter, with two games going into extra innings with low scores. I am guessing the pitching on both sides was excellent, but the offenses of both teams couldn't get it going this past weekend. It's tough when your pitchers go out, pitch a great game for 6 or 7 innings, and the offense doesn't score a run. Hard to win that way.
The rest of the evening spent with a couple of YouTube videos. Bedtime was 11:02 PM. One of the best days in a long time.
That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
