Hey There! It's 2:09 PM CDT, 74°, sunny
We arrived yesterday to Lincoln, NE, where we are spending our zero day. DW is currently visiting an old friend from our days at UN-L. I am nursing a cough. I don't feel terrible, but the cough is annoying as hell. So I am doing my best trying to rest up and take it easy.
It's been 40 years since we've been to Lincoln, although we did make a 2-hour stop on our way back from viewing the total solar eclipse back in 2017. Nothing is familiar. 40 years of development has changed the city, and I can't really remember how to get around either. Nor is there any place I would particularly want to see. I spent most of my time on campus and really didn't live the city life much. So resting and trying to get rid of this nagging cough is the order of the day.
I feel like when I get back home I will have done enough driving for a lifetime. I wonder if my long-distance driving days are over. If we do this again next year, will I have to take more time by making shorter drives to get west? Right now I don't know, but I do know I'm gonna need some time for recovery upon arrival home.
The days are really just filled with driving, so nothing to report. Although I lived in NE for 6 years, this is the first time I've ever driven across the entire state. It's a nice state, and I wish I had the inclination to enjoy it more. But getting home has too strong a pull, and so perhaps another time.
