Hey There! It's 8:14 AM EDT, 45°F, sunny, Wind 2 mph NE
Yesterday was Mother's Day, and so I did my best to give DW a "day off." After my morning routine and walk, I cooked her a little breakfast of scambled eggs with cheese. Then I went to make my own breakfast, adding some bacon. She decided she wanted some bacon as well, because she had just bought some uncured bacon and wanted to taste it. So I added a slice for her. It's OK, but it certainly lacks the "bacony" taste and mouthfeel of cured bacon.
After breakfast, I got myself cleaned up and took a couple of hours to write up a post for my public blog. It took so long because I had to keep checking my sources and memory to remember where I'd been and what I'd seen. I should have been much more careful about taking notes or pictures with names attached, as it's not so easy to commit the Japanese names of places to memory.
After I got that done, I settled in for an afternoon ball game. DW decided to come over and watch with me, but after a little bit she fell asleep. I kept the game on as sort of a white noise effect. Her sister called while she was napping, so I put on headphones while they talked. Her sister has been a huge PITA lately, as she needs to go to some assisted living, but refuses. It's a long and grim story, and a source of stress for DW.
Once the game was over, I got up to start dinner. DW took a couple of calls from the kids, I believe. I made baked chicken thighs with potatoes and broccoli, which came out pretty nice. DW had laid everything out for me so I wouldn't mess anything up. It's a pretty simple recipe. It turned out well, although DW likes her broccoli a little more cooked, while I like it a little less cooked, so I had to put hers into the microwave to soften it up.
After dinner I decided to make a Google map of my Japan trip to help me better remember where I'd gone and to make it very geographically visible. When I finished that, I went back into the living room and watched a couple of long YouTube videos, one from my AZ Trail 125 guy, and two from Gear Skeptic, a guy who puts out non-sponsored test videos of outdoor gear. That plus cleaning up from dinner brought me to bedtime at 11:15 PM.
