The weather has been superb this past week: mostly sunny days reaching into the mid-upper 60s with no rain and light winds. I'm very grateful for such a beautiful stretch of weather.
Yesterday, after my morning routine, I started the day with a meeting with someone who might be taking over part of my podcast. We had a nice Zoom meeting, I laid out the parameters of what I needed, and he seemed to have no problem with any of it. He's taking care of two operas, so we'll see what he comes up with.
When I finished my meeting, Son1 sent a text to DW saying our planned trip out to his place this weekend to help him straighted out and deep clean his house needed to be re-scheduled, as his wife was going to be in town instead of away as we had planned. We deliberately wanted to do this while she was away so she wouldn't have to be embarrassed or anything. So we are re-scheduling that trip.
With all the free time on our hands all of a sudden, we don't quite know what to do. I went to the next town over to get a few grape pies I had ordered. One is for me, one for Daughter out in the PNW, and one that I believe is going to her co-worker. So I got the pies and put them in the freezer. They have to be rock hard frozen and then vaccuum-packed to make it all the way to the west coast in one piece.
I think I pretty much dawdled away the remainder of the day. DW has been very involved with helping her niece find an assisted living facility for her sister, and they may have found one. That will play out the rest of the month, as she has to leave the rehab facility by 9/30. In the meantime I spent some time chatting with Daughter about getting a new external drive for her computer so she can move all her files over from her aging laptops. I think she needs an updated laptop, but I will wait until she tells me so.
DW and I went out to eat dinner, and she had chicken and biscuits while I had mac and cheese with BBQ burnt ends. Both dishes were delicious, and worth the cost, because for once the proportions felt equal to the price of the dish. I could not finish mine, so I have a lunch available today. After dinner we went and caught the sunset, and then came home.
I tuned in the ball game, while DW settled in to watch a movie based on a book she had just completed. The game was a good one considering it was the end of the season, as we came from behind to win. Again, the managers were both thinking about the upcoming playoffs, so there were some short-timers in there, but it was entertaining.
I finished up the night with a video or two, cleaned up what there was in the kitchen to clean up, set a mouse trap (caught another one!), and went to bed around 11:15 PM. A rather simple day.
