Hey There!
It's 8:29 AM EDT, 61°F, Humidity 96%, Wind 11 mph NE, rain
Yesterday felt like a more normal day than I've been having recently. After I went through my morning routine, I watched the condensed version of the Padres-Cubs wild card game. They play too late out in San Diego for me to stay up and watch. I was with the Cubs in this series, but they lost. In a sense, San Diego has a better chance to dispatch the Dodgers, so we'll see what happens in the next round.
Following that, I began to do some research for my interview. The show that was the topic if the conversation was not up my alley at all, so I found I really had to struggle to watch enough clips to get a sense of what the show was about. It made me keenly aware of the fact that my personal cultural tastes and times have not only set sail, but are now out beyond the horizon. I pretty much spent most of the morning doing this, broken up by a DW breakfast of eggs, sausages, and home fries.
I did the interview at 1:30, and that went well, as the interviewee really carried the ball for me on the topic. With that out of the way, I decided to go out and do some minor shopping. I picked up a loaf of bread, some hot dog rolls, some hot dogs, and some chicken thighs. Lunch is the hardest meal of all to eat, and usually there are leftovers, but since we went on that trip there isn't much cooked in the house as leftovers. And hot dogs make the easiest lunch. They were 99 cents a package, and right after I picked out my one package, the man after me went in and must have grabbed about 6 or 7 packages for himself. He will be eating hot dogs for some time, and perhaps it's all the meat he can afford.
When I got home, DW was in the midst of the continuing drama that is her sister. I think things are coming to a good outcome, however, as it appears they managed to get my SIL functioning enough to get out of the rehab center and into an assisted living situation. I hope this works out, as it's been a source of stress for several years now of my SIL living alone in her house and not taking care of herself or the house.
I also took in two of my favorite YouTube channels: Sidetrack Adventures and Playing with Sticks. SA took me through the tourist of Goff, CA in the Mohave desert, while PWS featured some tips and tricks for making a small trailer more homey and live larger.
Our local burger shack is closing for the season in a week, and so DW and I decided to get smoked chicken dinners from them. It saved DW having to cook, and the food is pretty tasty. The closing of local burger shack is always a strong sign that summer is finally, truly over. I need one more BBQ hot dog next week, and I'll be ready - but sad - to see it close for the winter.
DW asked me at dinner if I had read any follow-up articles on the Womens Professional Baseball League, and I hadn't. So after dinner I dug up three articles and sent them to her and Daughter and Daughter's friend. Then I settled in for the Phillies-Atlanta game. Unfortunately Atlanta won, as the Phillies had no hitting to speak of. So the matchups are set for the next round. I have the following: Chicago over Cleveland, Tampa Bay over New York, Los Angeles over Atlanta, and Milwaukee over San Diego.
I turned the game off in disgust before the end. Then I went to clean the kitchen, but decided to give the mice a break and not set a trap. Bedtime was 11:22 PM.
That's all for now. 'Til We Meet Again!
