Yesterday started out with a nice walk, although by the end of the day I was having some aches and pains in my legs. Today is probably going to be a recovery day. I went to enter the park from a different entrance, but I did not know that the entrance is only an exit, one way out. That irked me a bit, as there appears to be no reason for it other than the people living around the entrance probably didn't want the extra traffic. I really want to ignore the sign, as the entrance road is really in bad shape, but I turned around and went in the main entrance. I did park in the better lot, though, which added about .2 of a mile to the walk.
I got home, had some breakfast, and went to get the grocery order from Walmart that DW put in. Once the order was put away, I got her into a conversation about the possibility of buying a used EV. She usually leaves the issue of cars to me, but this purchase is going to be a significant one if it happens. I want a used EV for around town and short distance drives, keeping our ICE car for longer sojourns. I've always had some sort of alternative gas-saving vehicle, like a scooter or light motorcycle, but with the advance in years, I am thinking it would be great to have a vehicle that I can just get in and drive - no helmet or special gear - in any weather, and not use gas. I noticed the price locally is now $4.60, and I am confident the days of gas less than $3/gal are over. So I think it's an economically sound move that is keeping in line with my advancing age. I should be getting a look at the vehicle I have in mind today.
I spent a good part of the early afternoon continuing to do some research on the car. By all measure what people say about it and how they use it is very close to the use case I have for it. So while I have some trepidation, it should be fine overall. I think the one thing that has me most nervous is an outlay of cash (no loan) so soon after spending a good deal of money on the winter trips. But I think the opportunity is one I should take.
Later in the afternoon I re-installed the battery into my second car that I let sit in the driveway all winter. It started up and ran right away. I took it for a short spin, and the winter break didn't seem to have any immediate effect. I should, however, check the tire pressure.
When I got back I decided to watch the condensed version of the ballgame. The team is really playing well. I am actually surprised at how well they are playing, and concerned about when it will all come crashing down. It's a long season.
Dinner was leftover chicken scampi, while DW made a zucchini sandwich for herself. For most of the evening I watched some long form You Tube videos, learning about a petroglyph site in the Mohave desert, a deep dive into the Kazakhstan uranium problem, and a video from my AZ riding guy. He took a guy with a 1200cc BMW into some sandy trails, and the guy fell three time. Luckily no one was hurt. That big of a bike doesn't belong out there. Bedtime was 11:20 PM.
