Hey There! It's 8:28 AM EDT, 41°F, overcast
Happy May Day! Happy Beltane! I can hardly believe that spring is halfway over. It feels like arriving home should be the beginning of spring. Let's hope May is a more spring-like month than what we've had as far as the weather is concerned. The flowery blooms on my front and back yard trees have mostly disappeared. I missed the blooming, but I caught enough at the end to make it pleasant.
No walk yesterday as I was taking a recovery day. It rained as well. So the morning was spent lining up final choices on software and hardware use. I've decided that, since my MacBook Air M2 is portable, it will now be my couchside computer. In my back office, I will use the Linux/Windoze box that can use the printer. When I need to do an interview for the podcast, I will bring the laptop in and take two minutes to set it up. I don't know at the moment what I am going to do with the Macbook Air 2017 Linux laptop that had been my couchside machine. to be determined.
I have also decided to return to Feedly as my RSS reader. Despite all attempts to find a new one, Feedly seems to be the best choice for me. I decided to quit Feedly when I first decided to try using my email as a reading source, but I must admit that it checks all my boxes: it's available on all platforms, it's free, and it had a simple text-only interface with a dark mode. I've also decided to keep all mainstream media feeds out of it, as they continually pop up during the day. I'll continue to use email newsletters coming once a day for absorbing mainstream news.
After finishing all that fussing about, I went out to pick up some eye medication, and then off to the Seneca Nation to fill up the gas tank. Since they are not subject to NYS taxes, their gas prices are lower, and I also have a loyalty card. This saves me about $0.25 a gallon compared to local gas stations, which are now up to $4.29 in most locations. I paid $4/gal yesterday. My loyalty card is also giving me less of a break since before I left. Once it was as high as $0.35/gal; yesterday it was $0.10. I'll be having adjust my expectations for gas savings in the coming months.
I got a BBQ hot dog and curly fries from my local burger shack, and got a Tim Horton sandwich for DW on the way back. Then I spent the afternoon and evening unproductively looking at YouTube videos, catching up with my guy from AZ whom I rode with a couple of times, and also Asian Boss, a real favorite of mine. No baseball game. Dinner and a short nap was squeezed inbetween YouTube sessions. Bedtime was 11:02 PM.
