Yesterday was a waiting day, as we waited for time to pass before getting things accomplished. In the hotel, I got up and fetched coffee and sat down to skim the headlines. Still no walking, but it is refreshing to walk out into the parking lot and smell the moist scent of pine. Once DW was ready we went down to collect breakfast - no hot breakfast in this brand.
Once we were packed we checked out and went over to Daughter's apartment. She is not the neatest or most organized person when it comes to her living space, and she lives with three cats, so the apartment generally smells of littler. While not terrible it's noticeable. It's also a one-bedroom place, so this is why we don't stay there when we visit. While she makes a decent salary at her job, she does not have the wherewithall to buy a house due to lack of a down payment. I think in the past she wanted a house, but I also think at the moment she is re-considering home ownership due to the reality of home maintenance. As a single person, she has no help either to maintain a home or save enough for a down payment, so she may be giving up on the idea of owning a home. I would rather she live in an apartment complex if only because she would be less susceptible to being evicted from the duplex she currently occupies. It just changed ownership over the last year, and she was nervous she might be evicted by the new owners. So far that has not been the case, but the future is not predictable. An apartment complex offers more long-term assurance. But she is stubborn, and is not exactly an energetic go-getter. Time will tell.
While I was there I tried to fix her old 2016 Macbook Air, but discovered that the hard drive is most likely farked. I managed to get a screen which offered Disk Utility or Network Restore. Neither option worked, and there are no more options past that point. uBreakiFix seems to be the final option.
I decided to order a pair of Samsung Airbud Pros 4 to see if they will lighten my load and allow for Live Translate. Marques Brownlee of internet fame gave them a very high rating, even saying they stayed in his ears very well, which is the chief reason I don't use them. I can test them for a few days around here, and if they don't work, I have time to return them.
We got into the AirBnb about 2 PM. I went there myself to unpack the car and unload the motorcycle. When I got back, we walked over to the Italian restaurant on the corner and had a nice meal. As it grew dark we reconvened back at the ABnB so I didn't have to drive in the dark. We chatted until 10PM when Daughter finally left. I booked an appointment to go through security at SEA. I think I have all my airport issues set. Today will be a day of getting packing together and finalizing what I'll be taking.
