What a wonderful week of weather we've been having! I can't think of a more perfect week of weather for all the people working to build the Discovery Trail at the park. Sunny, warm without being sweltering, almost no wind at all. It's really been spectacular.
Speaking of the project, that took up all my time yesterday. After my morning routine and breakfast, I showered and set out to the park to shoot video. There were a lot of young people from various schools and clubs in the city. It was really great to see a lot of young people lending their muscles to the project. The older volunteers are working on things like planting, raking, and pulling weeds. Those who know their way around tools are doing the building and also running machinery like payloaders and Bobcats. It was pretty buzzing when I got there.
I had lunch at the location and shot some lunch break video, and then went home to recharge the batteries and download the files. I have finally discovered that the drone, when running on manual controls, seems to split the video into separate audio and video tracks, so while the batteried were recharging, I went into iMovie and put together some of the video to turn them into useful files for YouTube and FaceBook. I also downloaded pictures shot by others and added them to the shared drive.
I went back to the site after doing all this to get one more tour video while there was no one there. When I got back I finished all the work on the files, uploading everything to the drive. By then it was dinner time, and DW had made up some kind of butternut/sausage casserole, which wasn't half bad. There was no baseball game in the evening; it was an afternoon affair, so I watched the condensed game, a low-scoring tight win. After that, I wrote a post for my public blog, discussing how I may simplify my web presence even more. I caught a couple of videos, channels I used to watch, and was reminded of why I don't watch them anymore. Will Prowse deliberately blew up a lithium iron phosphate battery to show how hard it is to do that, which was both entertaining and educational. I cleaned up the kitchen, and went to bed around 11:15 PM.
Today would have been my mother's 97th birthday.
