A few thunderstorms went through last night. Loud, but nothing severe or damaging.
Yesterday was a day where the one thing I had planned to do didn't get done. No big deal, but that's how it worked out. I went through my morning routine, and then went ahead and did just a bit more research on the Slate truck. I discovered that Marques Brownlee had a review on his auto channel, so I checked that out. All this research eventually led to writing a post for my public blog, not so much on the Slate itself, but rather on the mindset needed to see the truck for what it is, not for what it is not. Objections to this truck center around the sentence "it doesn't have enough XXX", so I wrote about why it does have enough XXX if you look at it realistically. I would hope to be able to buy one next spring.
Towards the end of writing that post, Son2 asked about one of our other cars, and I told him it was for sale. He wanted to sell it to his friend's nephew, so we made a deal to sell it for $4K. Now all we have to do is work out the logistics and get the cars moved around. My current Kia has to go to Son1, who has the Matrix. I have to then get the Matrix, the one we're selling, to Son2's buyer. I have to get the paperwork done for both cars, as I am gifting the Kia to Son1 and getting the car off my books. I haven't quite worked everything out yet, but I think the weekend of July10 will be moving weekend. I have off from the project that weekend, and the sooner I can get this done the better. It's nice to have the car sold so easily.
After that I went to the DMV myself to surrender the plates to Son2's old car, the Corolla. Then I went to the insurance company to stop payment on its insurance. That car served him very well, and it's nice to close the books on it.
DW had spent the day going through her books, so I sat with her for a bit while she explained a few things to me and we worked through a couple of questions. My mobile phone company had added a couple of charges for the small amount of time I had to turn it on before switching to the data eSIM, and it was confusing. I still have to work that out precisely. Then I watched a Sidetrack Adventure, and also ordered what we used to call a pen knife, but it's a small Victorinox Rambler. It might be a better EDC than my current SAK.
I had also ordered a new cabin filter for the Venza, and it arrived, so I installed it. I believe I have it in right. It came with no directions, and finding out more information on how to install it on the internet was challenging. I believe I have it right. I took it for a test drive, and the one thing people said against it appears to be true - it does reduce air flow by 25%. So it's possible we may use this filter to clear out the cigar odor, and then switch to a thinner filter when it gets hotter outside.
We had hamburgers on the grill with sweet potato fries for dinner. DW had made salads, but both of us were too full to eat them. Then after dinner we watched Japan and Sweden play their final group match against each other, which ended in a draw. When the match was over, I turned to what was left of the baseball game, which we lost. I had a small bowl of ice cream, cleaned the kitchen, and went to bed at 11:03 PM.
