Hey There! It's 10:35 AM MST, 73°F, sunny

Looks like a heat wave is on its way! DW and I are heading out to Phoenix for the weekend to see old friends and take in a couple of spring training games. We'll be cooking!

Yesterday after the morning routine, I spent the morning getting prepared for the day's ride on the CT 125 with Frank. I discovered that one of my extra containers has gone missing, so I will have to replace it once I get home. I think it was cut off from the back of my cargo box. Bummer. Something tells me thievery here is a bit worse than back home. Just a suspicion.

The ride took most of the rest of the day. Frank is my guide, and he took me to the edge of the river and showed me a little piece of property that had a pond, fishing dock, and swimming dock on it. It's all in disrepair now, but at one time it probably was an oasis. Palm trees surrounded the little pond, which was spring fed, and there was a rock wall pretty much still intact. There was also a concrete pad. If you found some new weather-treated boards you could easily repair the docks.

Then we set out to climb a dirt road that brought us to an altitude of about 7000'. The views were really spectacular! The area is on BLM land, and you could literally take a tent up there and camp free for an evening or two, or up to 14 days. The top of the mountain had all the antennas you could ask for. The ride up was interesting, but the ride down was more interesting. In the hiking world, the mantra is "going down is optional; coming up is mandatory." It's the reverse when cycling! Keeping your bike under control going downhill on a dirt road takes a lot of attention.

When we got to the bottom we took a break at a roadside pullover, and there was this rotten stench in the air. Turns out a dead javelina was over the side of the small wall. We both think someone threw it down there. We didn't stay too long. We headed out for home after that stop.

I got home and it was pretty close to dinner time. We had leftover meat loaf and brussel sprouts and sweet potato. After dinner, we watched the next episode of Star Trek: Academy, which was a maudlin tearjerker. The young adult atmosphere of this series is just a bit much for me to handle, and I am not sure I want to watch any more episodes.

I spent the remainder of the evening mapping out a possible loop route for the CT 125. I have yet to decide whether I want to do it myself, or ask Frank to come along. It's about a 55 mile loop from its starting point, and we'd have to ride about 18 miles to the start (and back). It's a lot of time on that little bike. We'll see. I also watched a video from a teardrop trailer channel t frequent. Bedtime was 10:56.

'Til We Meet Again!
