Hey There! It's 8:29 AM MST, 41°F, sunny

Another cool morning. We've hit a stretch of weather here that is cooler than average, but next week the temperatures are supposed to rise substantially. And I am having a can of coffee this morning, cold from the fridge. It tastes like chocolate milk!

Yesterday was a pretty OK day. I did not have any interviews or anything on the calendar particularly to do, so I had a relaxed morning. Nothing more than answering a few emails, doing a little more research for spring training weekend as well as Grand Canyon travel, and the like. I feel a little more organized, but not completely. Also, I got an invitation to go riding early next week with Frank. That should be fun.

I had in my head scheduled a ride for myself, but the weather was just a bit on the cool side and windy. So instead, I took on the task of making some small upgrades to the CT 125. I thought I was going to have to replace the USB power plug, but it turns out that there is some kind of short in the wire, and straightening out the wire so it bends less solves the issue. While I shoul probably replace the wiring and the butt connectors, I decided instead to get the wire in a position where it doesn't bend, and secure it with duct tape and zip ties. It is working OK, but I fear it may not hold on bumpy terrain. We'll see.

Then I was going to but a metal headlight protector over the headlight, when I noticed a bolt missing. I think when I took out the front rack, I must have lost the bolt. So I went to the local Honda dealer and ordered a $1.30 bolt, to be delivered Wednesday. But the parts guy did offer an alternative, which was to go to Ace Hardware and get a comparable bolt and washer. So I took the bolt off from the other side and got as close a match as I could. On the way home I stopped for a Sonoran dog at a local street truck vendor. Not bad.

When I got home I went to put on the headlight cage, only to find out it came with its own hardware, and I didn't need to replace the bolt. So I have a bolt ordered and a bolt I bought that I don't need. No worries; they can be extras, and I spent less than $3 all told. So I put the cage on over the headlight. A little finicky getting into some of those tight spaces. But I now have that cage over the headlight, which offers protection from flying rocks. I love the renewed front end ot the bike: handlebar bag, windshield, and headlight cage. It looks good.

DW spent the day watching the Olympics, and she saw the women hockey team take the gold, while Allsa Liu took gold in women's figure skating. I caught a little of both while coming in and out of the house. I resisted taking a nap, so I checked out maybe one or two Youtube videos before dinner. We had chicken chili, and I added a plate of nachos to my chili.

After dinner we turned on Star Trek: Academy, and it was another emo episode. No excitement at all. After that I listened to two podcasts, one from the CBC on the connection between thinking and reading, and how AI is severing that connection, and then one from the NY Times featuring in interview with Sen Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and her support of the govt shutdown with its demands for ICE reform. Very powerful, I thought. Bedtime was 10:51 PM.

'Til We Meet Again!
