It's a cold morning - 16°F. There's a slight wind, making it feel in the single digits. But the house is warm, I have coffee and a muffin, so all's well.
Yesterday morning was spent making final decisions for 2026 RMD disbursements. We decided to do everything monthly. This gives DW a bit more monthly cushion for her bills (she pays all the bills), and we can probably take out some money on a regular basis and save it in a MM fund. I shuttled her back and forth to PT while doing all the financial calculations.
In the afternoon I went over to see my senior tech student. She said she was having trouble with her phone setup, and it turned out she had pushed an incorrect button and had never turned it off. I reset everything for her. She seems to know what to do, but I think occasionally she forgets, and panics. I also helped her with her TV by reducing her buttons down to two. Her new TV can do many things, but I am highly leery of moving her away from her old-fashioned cable box. It has all she needs, and she's accustomed to it. Good enough.
I got a pizza from Country Fair for lunch before going there. Horrible. I had intended to go to Crosby's, but there was a couple there ordering a bunch of things before me, taking up time, and they didn't have pepperoni out anyway. So I left for Country Fair. Never making that mistake again.
I got home and tried resisting the urge to nap, but didn't make it. DW was a little worn out after her PT session, and she ended up napping as well. There we were, two old farts, reclining in our power love couch, napping. Ah, retirement!
Dinner was a hamburger with mushrooms and onions and baked potatoe wedges. The wedges were particularly crispy. The hamburger was from our Omaha Steak haul. A very satisfying dinner.
In the evening I went down a car camping rabbit hole. I've always dreamed of having a Toyota Sienna set up as a camper, and ran into a guy who is doing just that with a very simple no-build setup. It's for one person only, so it would be something I'd use without DW. We have a Class C camper for when we both go out that is self-contained. Then I saw that a channel I follow had released a video about a new camper from Hiker that is a stand-up model, meaning it's tall enough to stand upright in it. At our age that's good. But it starts at $30K, and you have to tow it. At this stage of life, with the motor home bought and paid for, it's not worth making the trade. But it is fun and entertaining to see the new models. This one can also be a tiny home if you wanted to use it as such. In bed by 11:15PM.
Today I have one interview, and I have to read more projects. I'd like to get the projects out of the way today, and then use tomorrow to create the podcast for this coming Wednesday. No more obligations after that until Christmas, unless I get more projects to read.
