Hey There! It's 1:04 PM MST, 54°F, partly sunny
Today marks the completion of my 74th trip around the sun and the beginning of trip #75.
Yesterday we had a good day. By the time DW and I completed our morning routines, we went out to the local farmer's market for some supplies. The farmer's market is a great place to get rid of your excess cash. We bought some fresh beef from a local beef producer, some fresh lettuce, and visiting the Alaska Fish tent to grab some fresh caught and. frozen halibut and scallops. I resisted the pulled pork sandwich because we had too much leftover food at home. DW also got a fresh spanakopita, while I got a cinnamon roll and some other chocolate pastry. We also got fudge. I also resisted the snack guy, with the corn nuts and dried fruit. Next week. We now have to be careful because, even though we're here for another 4 weeks, we can't buy so much stuff that it will be here when we leave. We've no way to bring it with us.
Then we headed to the supermarket for general supplies. DW handled getting the fresh vegetables while I stalked the aisles. She found some chocolate covered pretzels for herself, while I bagged some rice pudding. The store was pretty crowded. We are not used to being in stores these days what with WalMart pickup, but it's good to go and get out. You get better fruits and veggies that way as well because you pick them yourself.
We came home and had some leftovers for lunch. DW spent the rest of the afternoon napping and listening to her book, while I spent some time with a couple of videos and some research for the upcoming Japan trip. Just sort of whiled away the afternoon.
Dinner was a rotisserie chicken we bought at the store along with some leftover potatoes and cut veggies. Then we watched the next episode of Star Trek: Academy, and it was the best episode yet. The girl playing the Betazoid is still pretty bad, but Paul Giamatti is a revelation as the villan. Holly Hunter did her best work yet; watching her listen to Giamatti's recitation of her past was a master class in acting.
I followed up with a CBC podcast on the nature of flow, the state of being "in the zone." Very interesting. Bedtime was 11 PM.
