Hey There!

Just got finished eating a very nice burger for dinner. This is the best time of year to eat simply and fresh. Get some grass-fed natural beef, an ear of fresh sweet corn, some raw vegetables like broccoli, carrots, peppers and celery, and go to town! My only regret was forgetting to get a can of beer from the basement. Maybe I will do that after I write this post.

Played a round of golf with my usual partner this morning. Not a particularly good round, but I do it mostly for the exercise and company. Nothing terrible, mind you - mostly bogeys and double-bogeys - but I did lose two golf balls, which is irritating. We play on a local course that charges only $15 to walk nine holes, which is what we do. I am so surprised all the time to see that we're always the only two people walking the course. This summer I had a round with three pars, and my driving and putting hasn't been horrible, but my fairway shots haven't passed muster. It's always something with golf. When you play only once a week, it's hard to get the right muscle memory developed.

This afternoon I did a little work on an old blog I found lying around on the internet. I was surprised to see it live after 20 years. I wrote an explanatory note and updated just a few links. I should re-live that year by reading a post on the dates they were posted 20 years ago. Fascinating.

Then I went out to help an older woman master her technology. She's 84, her mind is sharp, but she's frail and has early stage Parkinson's disease. She really wants to be able to read news on the internet, send email and messages, and get basic information. She's very willing, but her mind/hand coordination is not the best at this stage. She gets lost because her hand or finger accidentally touches the screen and activates a mess of stuff she doesn't recognize. I have been trying to get her to use voice commands on her iPad, and we made some progress today. But I fear it's pretty much a lost cause. The greatest thing I'm doing for her is really giving her a weekly visitor, although she does have a good support network. I give her a ton of credit for wanting to stay on top of her technology and world events.

Finally, I took a ride to get gas and buy the sweet corn. The air quality is pretty bad in the NE this week, so I had to run the AC in the car and at home. Pleasant days seem to be a thing of the past; it's now either too hot and humid, or too cold, grey and damp. Climate change is another sign of humanity's continuing entropic spiral to extinction. We know all we need to know about the dangers of climate change, but the oligarchs who control the economy won't change anything for anybody. Thanks for trying, climate change activists, but you're too late and we're doing too little.

Corruption has reached into every corner of life. The government is now officially corrupt as it can be, and it will take years to root out this level of corruption. We may never get it done. People like our current President and Vice-President simply don't give a fuck - not one fuck at all. They will do so much damage so fast that, historically speaking, the calamities that will be the result of this much corruption will take generations to heal. With any luck I will be dead when the worst befalls.

And honestly, I don't care. The sheer ignorance at work here means that this society is getting what it deserves and voted for. I hope every one of these MAGA assholes gets what's coming to them. I'm perfectly willing to sit back and watch the shitshow.

'Til We Meet Again!
