Hey there!
I'm having a piece of lightly toasted coconut cake with butter alongside my coffee this morning. The cake is courtesy of DW, who's a very good baker and cook. I'm a world-class bottle-washer.
It's a nice quiet morning this morning. After my two Zoom meetings yesterday I spent the day chilling out at home. I took a semi-nap, and there was a nice dinner of chicken shawarma and rice with DW's guest. The ladies went and watched a movie while I took in a ballgame. They probably enjoyed the movie more than I enjoyed the ball game. I had a small bowl of ice cream, which is never helpful in my quest to lose 10 more pounds. It was a nice evening to sit out on the porch - warm but not too humid.
The porch this morning is cool and, again, not too humid. There is an Air Quality Alert out due to the wildfire smoke coming in from Canada. I've two sets of RR tracks fairly close, and the trains whistle their way past the house and through the city. Later this morning I'll take a walk by the lake.
DW's guest is leaving this morning, and I'll be driving her to her next house stay. Then the afternoon is pretty much unscheduled. I have a trip coming up next week with two of my brothers, so I need to prepare for that. There's one or two landscaping jobs that need to happen as well, most notably the front hedges. I'd love to replace those hedges with something more attractive, but that would cost some money I'm not interested in spending.
So all in all, a pleasant start to the day. Oh I forgot - I do have a reception to attend later this afternoon. It's a drop-in reception, so hopefully I can drop in and drop right out. Social events don't really do it for me anymore, especially formal ones like this. Seems the older you get, the less you want to leave the house.
'Til We Meet Again!
