Hey there!

Last night's memorial service was much more pleasant than I had anticipated. My social anxiety soon melted as I remembered names and faces from the past. The tributes were lovely, and overall quite a fitting memorial. Although I got a little emotional here and there, I managed to keep it together. All in all, a good way to bring a life and a long relationship to an end.

This morning I was able to wake up and take it easy getting into the day. I did an interview for my podcast, and also had a post-mortem meeting with other project managers for the last project I just completed. It's a pretty nice day today, although the air quality index is leaving something to be desired. But the sun is shining, there's a nice breeze, and almost every obligation is out of the way for the summer. Pretty soon I'll be heading off on a week-long trip, spending time with my brothers.

DW has a guest staying over a few days, so she'd been occupied with her. Tomorrow she moves on to her next house stay. Having company in the house is nice, and often I wish we did more in regards to having company over for dinners and such. But I do enjoy the peace and quiet that comes with leading a simple existence.

I overnighted at the cabin last Sunday evening. A nice moon came up. Nothing particularly special to report other than my neighbors are selling their house and moving to South Carolina. Too bad - they are really wonderful people who've helped me out with taming the land a bit. I will miss them. I think they plan to be gone before winter, but they have several horses, so they need to get rid of those at least before moving. It's always a crapshoot getting new neighbors. I am thinking about selling my own parcel, as keeping it up has become more and more difficult each passing year.

I'm already sensing the coming fall, as nights are now descending sooner and sunsets are earlier. I am trying to keep my anxiety at bay with the approach of summer's conclusion. It always seems as if summer finally arrives, and just as I feel ready to enjoy it, it's gone. Can't let that happen too many more times.

'Til We Meet Again!
