Hey There!

Another nice cool morning - high 50s. The sun is out, but to be able to sit on the back porch this morning requires a sweatshirt with a hood. The screen room is completely shaded in the morning, which on summer mornings is quite nice. On fall mornings, you get a chill, and would probaby rather be in the sun. I don't sit out here much in winter.

Writing this early in the morning means there is not much to mention. Yesterday afternoon I took a late nap and, rather than grilling a steak, we ended up having chicken sandwiches for dinner. Then I went to my ushering gig, a cello concert.

A small perk of ushering is that sometimes you get too see people you haven't seen in a while. That can be a good or bad experience. I saw Jim, who looked great, and I also saw Grant, who looked frail. Both are former faculty colleagues. As far as the concert was concerned, the cellist was very skilled, but his selections were all too much the same; too somber, too serious. There was nothing lighthearted or breezy. It felt like 90 minutes of funeral music. And he never made any contact with the audience. Never spoke a word, did not bother to introduce any of the pieces. Uber-serious, and I think in some ways the concert did not meet the moment. When I got home, I cleaned up the kitchen, watched one or two YouTube channels, ended up buying some items from one of the videos (everyday carry items around $10 each), and went to bed.

My plans today are to get the rest of my podcast done, and then try to head off to the campsite. I have a few free days in a row, and the weather looks ideal. I'd love to get in a week-long camping trip into the national forests around the Shenandoah Valley. We'll see how it goes.

'Til We Meet Again!
