Hey There!
This is Tommy Everyday, the blog where I write something everyday. I've come to the conclusion that it's too hard to maintain a blog with specific themes or purposes, as my mind tends to wander about too much to too many different things. So I decided to see what would happen if I just created a blog where I could write whatever I wanted any given time.
I've also decided this is probably a far better use of my time in the morning than reading the news. I'm giving up on trying to keep up with all the shit going on in the world. It's too depressing and infuriating, and frankly, most of what goes on in the world is far beyond my control, despite what all the Pollyannas say out there. Humanity is heading for a complete meltdown, and while I cannot tell you when it will happen, I firmly believe it will happen. Maybe I'll write about that in a future post.
But today, we get started. Looks like it's going to be a nice day. DW (Darling Wife) has a friend flying in from Minneapolis, and we're heading to the airport to pick her up later this morning. I need to mow some grass in the afternoon, and then maybe a night of camping.
Last night I completed a project I was working on, and I hope that it's the last project of its kind. I am beginning the process of letting go all the various types of activities I've picked up that take up my time. Over the month of July I've been thinking about what I'd like the next 10-15 years of my life to look like, and while I haven't really got a clue yet, one thing I do know is that I'd like to clear the deck. There's very little anymore that I'm interested in doing or accomplishing, and so I am now about to spend this year disengaging from as much of the world as I can. I figure it will take at least a year to accomplish that, so this post is a first baby step in that direction. No more combing the web and newspapers for stories to read or concerning myself with "the news." The struggle will be to make my life my own. I rather think I've earned that.
