Hey There!
Yesterday ended up being a slow day. My standing appointment with my senior citizen technology student was canceled, so I had more of the day free than I thought. I brought DW to her massage appointment, took my walk, picked her up, and came home to write a post for my public blog. I also did some financial calculating with Son2 to get his expenses from his exotic vacation straightened out. Then I took a nap; a pretty good one too, as far as I could tell.
In the evening I watched my team play some ball. It's getting down to the wire, and at this point they need every win they can get, especially against patsies. It's really not too fun to watch, so I checked out some of my YouTube channels and went to bed.
Today has been busy as well. I went on a consult with a local community organization and gave them some advice on how to improve their meeting technology. I actually learned something today about a new tech gadget - an Owl. It looks like a microphone but is actually a 360 degree camera and mic setup. It does a good job of knowing who is talking and zooming in on them, and then also showing other participants in the room. All I think they need is to upgrade to 2 of the latest model with a mic extender, and they should be good to go. I will have to write up my recommendations over the weekend and get them over to them.
In the afternoon I began working on my next podcast. It's not that it's a lot of physical work, but it is something of an exercise in focused concentration, and that can be fatiguing. I'm a bit tired as I write this. I'm about halfway through, but I have to usher tonight and so I've stopped for the day. I also had to coordinate with Son2 on his latest projects. I will have some busy weekends coming up in a few weeks. I think, though, I am going to have to ask him that he can't rely on me much longer.
DW and I talked about how crossing 70 years old has been a milestone. It seems as if all of a sudden you can't do the things you used to do so easily anymore. I think I am going to write a longer blog post about this. We both sense some changes coming up in the next few years, and while I think we have done a good job of getting our estate in order, we have to make some decisions about lifestyle. I remember my father selling the house to my brother at 80 and just moving out to an apartment in MA with my mother. Mom did not like it, but Dad could see the end coming. I don't want it sneaking up on me or making my kids deal with it.
Hopefully I can get out to the campsite this weekend and enjoy what's left of summer. I believe one of the things that's going to change significantly is camping, so it's not just about the rest of this summer; it's about the rest of my life. Selling the campsite and the RV looks like two things that we need to do in the coming few years. C'est la vie.
