Hey There!

I'm up a little earlier than usual. I thought I might get a head start on some of today's projects, but some rain showers and a generally threatening pattern is slowing me down until at least this afternoon. So we shall see where the day takes us.

I got a couple more little projects done yesterday. I ripped out a vine growing on the chain link fence along the driveway, and I raked up the trimmings from the front hedges as well as some of the dead leaves along the porch. I also took a run to the Home Depot and bought a few other items, notably some items to deal with the yellowjackets that have started buzzing about the back yard. I bought a trap, which visual inspection this morning seems to have worked OK, as well as some Wasp and Hornet killer spray, which I've sprayed along some of what I believe are their hive entrances along the ridge of the backyard shed. Hopefully this will eliminate a good deal of the problem.

I also re-charged the battery on my street scooter, and went out for a three-hour ride later in the afternoon. It was a lovely ride, and I found myself in a state forest before turning back. The countryside just prior to harvest looks so green and complete. The corn is high, the beans are full and fill the field, the sky was blue with puffy clouds hanging in the air. My scooter seemed to purr along with no issues, and I am amazed that, given the general neglect I show it, it runs at all. I stuck to back roads and a speed of 40-45 MPH, which is the perfect speed for enjoyment on a scooter. I really should ride more.

I spent the evening watching a ball game, and then went to bed. Son2 should be on his way back from vacation as I write this. I think he's pretty worn out from having fun. He's also way poorer.

This week the weather looks lovely - an almost perfect fall weekend, if the forecast holds. Hard to believe it's almost Labor Day. It sneaks up on you when it occurs on the first day of the month. People are heading back to school and work and whatever. I get to hang in the house, watching the wheels go round and round.

'Til We Meet Again!
