Hey There!
Another very nice, very cool morning this morning. I think the worst of summer is over. Temperatures for the coming week look to be in the mid-60s to low 70s. Perfect.
So Daughter went on her birthday free food hunt, and got a free drink from Starbucks, a free dessert from Olive Gardens, a free breakfast from Denny's, a 20% off pedicure, a reduced-priced hamburger with fries from Red Robin, and scored a My Little Pony stuffed toy at the Denny's claw machine. Pretty good all around. I actually look forward to this day because I love seeing what she gets for free.
I trimmed down the front hedges yesterday, and cut back some of the thorn bushes on the side of the house and behind the shed. Not hard work, but damn if I wasn't worn out after it all. The limitations I am feeling when doing physical labor are becoming discouraging. Even a light load like that wore me out to the point where I was dragging by mid-afternoon.
If my baseball team wasn't such a pile of dog shit right now, I would tell you that I spent the afternoon very pleasantly listening to the game out on my screen porch. When my noisy neighbors are gone, I really enjoy it out there. We grilled some chicken wings and chicken and rice for dinner, sang Happy Birthday to Daughter, and watched Star Trek: Strange New Worlds in the evening. And that's the day. I was grateful to get to bed last night, and this morning I felt I slept well. Nonetheless, I feel like I have to take it easy today, so I will rake up the trimmings from yesterday and that's that. I am also not walking because, the last night of the road trip, I banged my right foot on the corner of a piece of furniture in the motel room, and I am still feeling the soreness in my toes. I'd rather take the day of rest than make the toes even more sore.
Son2 will be coming home from the Maldives tomorrow, I believe. We've been following on Instagram. He says he's vacationed out. I have to say, I am completely stunned by how easy it is to follow his vacation and actually chat with him over the internet. Utterly amazing - like he's right next door.
