Hey There!

I'm just waking up from a nap. It's a slow process.

This morning I played a round of golf. Some good shots off the tee, but no pars for the day. I have a bad habit of just missing putts. And my fairway game was not up to snuff. The best I've ever done over 9 at the local course has been 3 pars on the front 9. My partner and I walk, and I swear we are always the only people walking the course. Everyone else uses carts. I find golf pointless unless I can walk. It's the exercise as much as the game, which in some ways I could care less. We don't keep score, which is the best part of the game, and we're quite equally in ability - we're equally bad.

Then I did an interview for my podcast, and set up two more for next week. I then went out to my favorite place to eat - a local hamburger shack - for a BBQ hot dog and fries. I also stopped off at a local convenience store to stock up on their ice cream sale. Neither DW nor I should be eating ice cream, but we try to keep our portions reasonable. Banana Dream, Maple Walnut, and the Nuthouse, along with 6 Sundae Bars, constitiutes the haul.

Yesterday evening I had a lively discussion with another old colleague about AI. He's for it; I'm against it. I am against AI because I believe it's a resource hog that has the potential to further ruin the environment and deplete the fresh water supply, and I also believe the amount of money being pumped into the technology is literally insane. There are so many other human problems that could be solved with such vast amounts of money, but there is no profit in feeding the poor and sheltering the homeless, so AI it is. I find it strange that people who would make the comparison that we could do a lot of good if only we reduced our military budget by the cost of one F-1 fighter and one aircraft carrier do not make the same argument when it comes to AI.

We are fast becoming USA, Inc. Intel giving a 10% share of its business to the US government? What's that about? All together now - GREED. The merger of Big Business with Big Government is now underway. Good luck stopping that! More deals incoming!

I'm a little sore from golf, and thus the nap. I actually took the nap outside on my zero gravity chair. It's a warm, beautiful day, one of those perfect days with perfect temperature, low humidity, plenty of sunshine. My screen room is a perfect place to enjoy it. I had one other project lined up, but time and energy have led to procrastination. Another day for chores.
