Hey There!

Fall is definitely in the air! I wore a fleece on my morning walk, and it was necessary due mostly to the breeze. At times I was hot and at other times cool. Temps are falling below 60° at night and getting only into the upper 70s during the day. I imagine we may get a day here and there in the upper 80s, but a 90°+ day is probably not in the cards.

DW was hurting this morning, so I drove her over to her PT session. Her pains come and go, and nothing really seems to rid her completely of pain. Between her back and her foot, she has major problems moving about. It is causing some depression in her, I can tell. She is not one to take her immobility lightly, and she does not like the feeling of being physically limited. She seems better after her PT session, but regardless, I can tell the consistent pain is wearing on her psyche. She will not age well.

I'm thinking of planning a few camping trips in the coming weeks. I bought a new tent, because you have to get these things in your hands to really know what they're about, but I may return it because it was an impulse purchase, and I don't really need a new tent. There is this fight raging in me about have the gear needed to go camping, but not getting the opportunity to use it. I have seriously begun the process of trying to determine if my camping days are over, not so much because I dislike camping, but because it was always a means to an end - more travel. Camping without traveling or some other activity associated with it (hiking, motocamping) seems fairly boring, as there's really not much to do at a campsite other than cook, drink, sit, and sleep. Building a fire these days is not interesting anymore, and is too much work. Sitting on my back porch is pleasant. When you think about it, having a house in one spot is really sophisticated camping. Maybe it's not the woods or the outdoors, but with a relatively quiet neighborhood, it's satisfactory.

There's a lot to work out here that's related to aging and declining expectations. I feel I need to work through all this and remain ahead of the curve. I do not wish to get caught unawares about the aging process - I wish to be ready to age. I don't feel there's really another choice.

S2 is sending out some fun pictures of his vacation. I am using a borrowed Instagram account to view them. While generally speaking I am not a fan of beach resorts, his photos make it look quite attractive.
