Hey There!
I slept pretty well last night, and as I write this at almost 3pm I am feeling less exhausted and more like myself. It was raining this morning when I woke up, so I did not get out for a walk, nor have I gotten to any of the landscaping projects I had scheduled for today. Instead, I caught up on some computer work, answering emails for S2 while he's on vacation, and taking care of details for my next podcast. Then I had some lunch, took a shower, and am now doing my laundry. Good time to write.
We did some of our bills today, and boy, let me tell you - in this day and age, children continue to be an expense. At least mine do. Two kids just had major surgery, and I am sure there will be bills there they can't pay. They don't get enough sick time or personal days to take care of these things, and it makes me realize how spoiled I am in terms of my career and benefits. Things I took for granted are not how things work for people who don't have professional careers. Daughter lost a month's pay, and S2 is losing about 2 weeks pay as well, although he's in better shape than Daughter. So DW and I make up the difference so they don't drown in bills. We managed to make sure they got their college educations without student loans, the smartest thing we ever did. S1 was thinking of moving, but I think he's changed his mind (it was more about his wife, really, than him). So at least we won't have to shell out for part of their move. But I guess we will have to shell out for some home improvements. We've paid for a repair on their roof, and they need some serious HVAC work as well. Oh well, it is all going to be their money in the long run anyway. Better to spend it now than wait for the future.
The world continues to suffer from social prostate cancer. That's how I perceive it. Prostate cancer won't necessarily kill you, but it could if you're not careful or you're unlucky. I wonder how much longer I can keep attending to the news. The week on tour was nice because we paid no attention to world affairs. That relieves stress. But the cruelty of humanity to its own kind is unmatched in nature. It's all so completely irrational that I think there is no other option but to let it all fail and start all over again. I had a conversation yesterday with a guy whose FoxWashed brain just simply cannot comprehend simple concepts like progress. And this is the problem with people - they want everything to stay exactly the same as its always been forever, but they refuse to invest any time or money (i.e. taxes) into making that happen. "Magical thinking" I think they call it. The universe is truly an absurd and perverse place.
