Hey There! It's 8:08 AM EDT, 42°F, lousy (overcast/drizzle)
Ever since returning from our winter travels, the weather here at home has been the kind of weather I truly despise. It's cold, rainy, wet and miserable. We've arrived back at the end of April, and the forecast for the weekend includes a frost advisory. It's not un-typical for this region, but regardless, it is unwelcome as we move into May.
Yesterday it rained almost the entire day. I took my first walk since returning home, and it felt nice. Rather than listening to a podcast, I decided to take in the surroundings and let the reality of where I was sink in. It was a good thing I brought an umbrella, as I needed it about halfway through the walk.
After breakfast I set about re-thinking my approach to internet content. It feels haphazard, and I am looking for something that will be a more streamlined effort. The resurgence of RSS feeds has me thinking that all I might need is one good RSS reader that I can access across all devices. I am also considering reducing my personal output to nothing but an RSS reader. I've had a domain since maybe 2005, but now I am beginning to think I have little use for one anymore. It's a matter of simplification. I no longer think my words and thoughts and opinions have market value, and so creating simpler (and by extension valueless) content seems the way to go. I'll continue to experiment.
In the afternoon I did an interview for my podcast (a regional podcast on the arts in my county supported by the local historic opera house), and then tuned into an afternoon ball game. I believe I fell asleep during the 9th inning. We took a loss, but the overall road trip was very successful.
Dinner was a tofu stir fry. DW has seemed to hone in on a recipe that makes the outside of the tofu crunchy, and it does improve the taste of the tofu. I'm not much of a tofu fan, but I understand its value and place in a diet, and since DW does all the cooking I never complain about the meal. I wash up afterwards.
In the evening I decided to find out a little more about Joan Westerberg, whose writing has gathered my attention. I discovered her YouTube channel, and listened to several of her audio essays. Having now seen her on video, I am unsure if "her" is the correct pronoun, but since Joan is the name used, I am assuming "her." I'll continue to dig until I find what's correct. She's younger than I thought, very articulate, and speaks unbelievable fast, so much that I had to slow the video to 0.80 speed. She's opinionated, but she can also be balanced. Her video on Stoicism included her praise for it, but critiqued it in its extreme form. She's very aware of the ravages technology is creating on society, but isn't giving up on it yet. She's thoughtful, focused, and intense. I look forward to experiencing more of her work.
I think I have finally rebalanced my circadian rhythms at this point, as I went to bed at 11:07 PM last night and was awake by 7:15 AM this morning, with only one pee break in my sleep. I take this as a good sign.
