ABOUT

TommyEveryday is a blog about nothing in particular. It is simply my attempt at writing something everyday in a blog. My intent is to remain as anonymous as I possibly can, so don't expect too much information about me personally here. I'm not much of a sharer.

I've chosen to write about the minutiae and everyday events of my life because they require no need for inspiration, nor a search for reason or meaning. They just happen. Hence, there is always something to write about without the struggle of looking for a topic or organizing an essay.

Born in Q1 of 1952, I'm a retired white collar professional. I live in a rural region of the Northeastern US. I am a technology Luddite, using only that technology which serves my needs and maintains my privacy to the extent possible. My house is paid off, one of two cars is paid off, and between DW (Darling Wife, also b.1952) and I we are as financially secure as we can be in an unsettled financial climate. We have three adult children.

I have no public social media feeds of any sort. I like blogging, but I don't think it's the panacea everyone seems to think it is. I am in the process of making my life as simple and obligation-free as possible. I don't really have any hobbies, but I do enjoy camping, and I am hoping that, by trying to blog everyday, I will learn to be a better writer.

I'm universally agnostic about most things in life. I believe humanity is heading for some sort of worldwide disaster. I believe that society suffers from entropy on a mass social and environmental scale, and there's little that anyone can do to stop it. I think of humanity as having terminal cancer, and the various attempts to solve our problems are akin to cancer treatments that ultimately fail. I consider myself a realist; I don't like to lull myself into believing there's hope when there is none, or very little.

If I had my druthers, I'd be a wanderer, but DW is not of that mindset at all, and anyway, home is not such a bad place. It's just boring at times. So part of the reason for this blog is sheer personal entertainment. My intent is to keep it as unfiltered as possible. Ranting and shouting at clouds is the privilege of the old, so I intend this blog to serve that purpose as well.

That's about it. If you've read this, thanks. I think there's a newsletter available, as well as an RSS feed (recommended) if you want to subscribe and read TommyEveryday every day. Links just below.
